The people's voice of reason

The 75th National Day Of Prayer Is Thursday, May 07th

Since 1952, the first Thursday of May has been designated by the U.S. Congress as The National Day Of Prayer. It is a day when people are asked to turn to God in prayer and the President of The United States of America is required by law to sign a proclamation each year with the hopes of encouraging everybody to pray on The National Day of Prayer. Specifically, 36 U.S. Code § 119 states that, "The President shall issue each year a proclamation designating the first Thursday in May as a National Day of Prayer on which the people of the United States may turn to God in prayer and meditation at churches, in groups, and as individuals."

With the first official National Day of Prayer taking place in 1952, this year makes for the 75th observance of the supplication-oriented commemoration. The theme for this year's National Day of Prayer is "Glorify God among the nations – seeking Him in all generations." Which stems from 1 Chronicles 16:24, a verse in The Bible that states, "Tell of His glory among the nations, His wonderful deeds among all the peoples." To celebrate the 75th Anniversary of The National Day of Prayer, the National Day of Prayer task force will be broadcasting their 90-minute virtual prayer gathering from Statuary Hall in the U.S. Capitol.

The broadcast from Statuary Hall will feature a Gospel presentation shared by Will Graham. With Will Graham being known as, "the third generation of Grahams to proclaim the Gospel under the banner of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association." As well as music from the violin and saxophone duo, Rosemary Siemens and Eli Bennett. With Siemens and Bennett being a husband and wife duo based out of Vancouver, Canada. The broadcast will be streamed live at https://www.nationaldayofprayer.org/2026-broadcast. It will also be aired on various Christian television and radio networks.
