Former State Rep. Perry Hooper Jr. Headlines Founding Meeting in Prattville
PRATTVILLE, Ala. - The Autauga County Republican Women officially launched Tuesday, May 5, 2026, with an inaugural luncheon at Ann's Back in the Day Cafe, drawing women from across Autauga County and surrounding communities to organize around conservative principles, civic engagement, and local leadership.
Former Alabama State Representative Perry Hooper Jr., a board member of the Christian Coalition of Alabama, delivered the keynote address.
"When women organize, politicians listen," Hooper said, telling the audience that organized Republican women have repeatedly proven decisive in Alabama races at every level - from city council seats to the governor's office.
The new organization elected its founding officers:
President - Suzzelle Josey
Vice President - Elaine Wilkes
Secretary - Stephanie Irvine
Treasurer - Sandra Champion
Founding President Suzzelle Josie said the club's mission is to unite Republican women across Autauga County, support conservative candidates, and create year-round opportunities for fellowship, education, and civic service.
"This is just the beginning," Josey said. "There is real energy behind this group, and we are excited about what these women can accomplish together for Autauga County and for Alabama."
The Autauga County Republican Women will hold regular monthly meetings and welcomes new members who share a commitment to conservative values, community involvement, and political engagement.
Membership inquiries and meeting details are available through the organization's official Facebook page.
