May 19 - Alabama Republican Primary election results

On May 19 Alabama Republican voters went to the polls to make their voices heard.

The only question about the Republican governor's race was how much would Tommy Tuberville win by? The people of Alabama voted and the answer was 85%. There were 493,376 votes cast in the GOP primary for Governor and Tuberville received 421,754. Ken McFeeters came in second with 47,166 (9.56%). Followed by "Alabama" Will Santivasci with 24,456 (4.96%).

For Lieutenant Governor there will be a runoff election between former Alabama Republican Party Chairman John Wahl and Secretary of State Wes Allen. Allen received 180,292 votes (38%); while Wahl finished first with 192,432 votes (40.56%). Pat Bishop received 15,405 votes (3.25%), George Childress 10,318 (2.17%), Rick Pate 34,608 (7.29%), Dr. Stewart Hill Tankersley 13,523 (2.85%), Nicole Jones Wadsworth 27,907 (5.88%).

In the U.S. Senate race, there will be a runoff between Congressman Barry Moore and former U.S. Navy SEAL Jared Hudson. Moore finished in first with 188,825 votes (39.18%), while Jared Hudson narrowly finished in second with 123,533 votes (25.6%). Steve Marshall received 118,233 (24.53%). Seth Burton got 15,122 votes (3.14%). Dale Shelton Deas Jr. 10.099 (2.10%), Morgan Murphy (who had dropped out of the race) 6,470 (1.34%). Rodney Walker got 19,670 votes (4.08%).

In the race for Alabama Attorney General Katherine Robertson is in a runoff with Jay Mitchell. Robertson had 189,183 votes (40.53%) while Mitchell received 160,616 votes (34.41%). Pamela L. Casey got 116,931 votes (25.05%).

In the Secretary of State race Caroleene Dobson got an overwhelming victory. Dobson received 286,914 votes (65.48%). Christopher Christian Horn had 99,108 votes (22.62%). Glenda S. Jackson had 52,173 (11.91%).

In the race for State Treasurer incumbent Young Boozer won in a landslide. Boozer had 306,295 votes 68%. Steve Lolley had 143,864 votes (31.96%).

In the State Auditor's race, incumbent Andrew Sorrell won in a landslide. Sorrell had 300,160 votes (68%). Chen finished with just 141,651 (32%).

In the Commissioner of Agriculture & Industries race Corey Hill and Christina Woerner McInnis are in a runoff. Hill received 150,598 votes (35.20%). McInnis 149,179 (34.86%). Jack Williams received 128,112 votes (29.94%).

In the Public Service Commission - Place 1 race Matt Gentry won in the biggest landslide of the night. Gentry received 311,845 votes (75%). Incumbent Jeremy H. Oden had 104,541 votes (25%).

In Public Service Commission - Place 2 Jim "Zig" Zeigler will be in a runoff with incumbent Chris Beeker. Zeigler had 189,724 votes (45%). Beeker received 103,835 votes (24.54%). Priscilla Andrews had 52,371 votes (12.38%). Brent Woodall 77,185 votes (18.24%).

In U.S. House District 1, incumbent Barry Moore was running for U.S. Senate so the seat is an open race.

Former Congressman Jerry Carl will be in a runoff with state Representative Rhett Marques on June 16 for CD1. Carl received 32,650 voters (40.28%) Marques finished second with 25,197. James (Jimmy) Dees got 4,187 votes (5.17%). Joshua McKee got 7,321 votes (9.03%). John Mills had 3,042 votes (3.75%). James Richardson received 2,844 votes (3.51%). Austin Sidwell had 5,812 votes (7.17%).

It was a big night for incumbents in Congressional races.

In the Third Congressional District incumbent, Congressman Mike Rogers received 63,053 votes (83.18%). Terri LaPoint got 12,754 votes (16.82%).

In the Fourth Congressional District, incumbent Congressman Robert B. Aderholt received 72,117 votes (77.62%). Tommy Barnes got 20,797 votes (22.38%).

In Alabama's Sixth Congressional District, incumbent Congressman Gary Palmer received 62,148 votes (81%). Case Dixon got 14,484 votes (19%).

Governor Kay Ivey (R) has called for new Congressional primaries in CD6, CD7, CD1, and CD2. As of press time those primaries have been blocked by a three-judge panel meaning that the primary runoff between Carl and Marques on June 16 is still in effect. That is potentially subject to change as the state is appealing.

In State Board of Education District 6 Cathi Bradford defeated incumbent Marie Manning. Bradford had 35,815 votes (54%). Manning received 30,388 votes (46%).

In State Board of Education District 8 there will be a runoff between Emily Jones and William Matthews. Jones received 16,409 votes (42.73%). Matthews got 11,731 votes (30.55%). Connie Spears finished with 10,259 votes (26.72%).

The primary runoff elections will be on Tuesday, June 16.

The general election will be on Tuesday, November 3.
