Alabama Farmers Federation Celebrates Runoff Victories

MONTGOMERY, Ala., June 16 - Alabama Farmers Federation is calling Tuesday night's wins by Alabama FarmPAC-endorsed candidates a victory for homegrown values and grassroots advocacy.

"The value of an Alabama FarmPAC endorsement is our people," said Alabama Farmers Federation President Jimmy Parnell. "Our members are leaders in their communities. They understand the issues that impact their neighbors' daily lives, so people listen to their opinions. Candidates the Federation supported are those who invested time with these local leaders and earned their trust."

Parnell said Federation members are especially excited about hard-fought victories by Katherine Robertson for Attorney General and Corey Hill for Commissioner of Agriculture and Industries.

"Corey is a poultry and cattle farmer who came up through our Young Farmers program and previously served as Marshall County Farmers Federation president. He understands the challenges facing agriculture and will be a great leader for our industry," Parnell said. "Our members also embraced Katherine's candidacy early on. Her great grandfather was president of Alabama Farm Bureau, and she grew up with a deep appreciation for agriculture and forestry. We are excited for Katherine to continue her strong, conservative leadership in the AG's office."

Parnell said Rep. Barry Moore's nomination for U.S. Senate is good news for Alabama farmers.

"Barry understands the issues affecting farmers and rural communities," Parnell said. "He has been a strong advocate on the House Agriculture Committee and will be ready to fight for Alabama's farmers and hardworking families on day one as our next U.S. senator."

Parnell said the Federation's network of 1,200 county board members plus local Young Farmers, Women's Leadership Committee members and commodity leaders make the Federation a formidable force in Alabama politics. He noted Alabama FarmPAC is a true membership PAC, with every penny coming from member contributions.
