Barry Moore wins Republican nomination for U.S. Senate

June 16, 2026 – ENTERPRISE, Ala. – Congressman Barry Moore (R) was the choice of Alabama Republican primary runoff voters on Tuesday, besting former U.S. Navy SEAL Jared Hudson in a hotly contested GOP primary fight.

310,758 Republicans cast votes in the Senate race. Former U.S. Navy SEAL Jared Hudson finished in second with 137,340 votes - 44.20%. Barry Moore received 173,418 votes - 55.80%.

"The greatest days in Alabama are ahead of us," said Moore. "The relationship that we have with the President in the Whitehouse. When I call him he takes my calls. We can work together with the Senators, the delegation and the President to work together to bring jobs to Alabama so our kids and grandkids will want to live here and be able to come back to Alabama."

Moore was endorsed by President Donald J. Trump (R) .

Moore said that after the President endorsed Barry, "Barry I am going to endorse you and you are going to go up in the polls, so don't mess this up. And the people of Alabama didn't mess this up."

Moore was the first elected official to endorse Donald Trump for President in 2015. Moore said that receiving President Trump's endorsement, "Was a full circle moment for me and my family."

President Trump posted his endorsement of Barry Moore on Truth Social.

"Congressman Barry Moore, an America First Patriot who has been with me from the very beginning (He was the first Elected Official in the Country to Endorse me!), is running for the United States Senate in Alabama, a place I love and WON BIG in 2016, 2020, and 2024, getting the Highest Vote in that Great State's History," the President wrote.

"A very successful Businessman, Civic Leader, and Highly Respected State Legislator prior to becoming a distinguished Congressman, Barry has dedicated his life to serving his Community," Trump continued. "As your next Senator, Barry will continue to fight tirelessly to Grow our Economy, Cut Taxes and Regulations, Promote MADE IN THE U.S.A., Champion American Energy DOMINANCE, Keep our Border SECURE, Stop Migrant Crime, Ensure LAW AND ORDER, Strengthen our Brave Military/Veterans, Safeguard our Elections, and Defend our always under siege Second Amendment."

In addition to the Trump endorsement, Moore was endorsed by Senate opponents: Seth Burton, Rodney Walker, and Morgan Murphy.

Moore is a veteran of the Alabama National Guard and U.S. Army Reserves. He served eight years in the Alabama House of Representatives and is in his sixth year in the U.S. House of Representatives. Moore also had the support of the Alabama Farmer's Federation.

Trump said, "Barry Moore is a good friend, fighter, and WINNER, and has my Complete and Total Endorsement to be the next United States Senator from Alabama. Election Day for the Republican Runoff is Tuesday, June 16th. GET OUT AND VOTE FOR BARRY - HE WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN!"

Jared Hudson is a former U.S. Navy SEAL, businessman, and reserve deputy who has worked for the Blount, Jefferson, and Shelby County Sheriff's Departments.

Moore had the most votes in the primary. Hudson's campaign tried to close that gap by going negative on Moore. Hudson's campaign criticized Moore's National Guard service as not deserving of veteran status. The argument fell flat with voters. Hudson had 123,533 votes on May 19 in a field of seven candidates. Despite a heavy media blitz, Hudson only picked up 13,807 votes in the runoff.

Birmingham area pastor and attorney Everett Wess won the Democratic primary runoff. Moore will face Wess in the November 3 general election.
