Brent Woodall endorses Jim Zeigler for PSC

June 10, 2026 - FLORENCE - Former Republican candidate for the Public Service Commission Brent Woodall has endorsed former state Auditor Jim Zig Zeigler in the June 16 Republican primary runoff.

Mr. Woodall announced his endorsement of Zeigler in a speech to his home GOP club, the Shoals Republican Club breakfast on Saturday.

"Over the last few months I had the opportunity to watch candidates for all the statewide races in Alabama," said Woodall. "I saw the ones who worked hard and the ones who seemed to genuinely not care about campaigning. In the race for Alabama Public Service Commission Place 2 "Jim Zeigler worked hard, attending various events and making himself available for questions and comments from concerned voters."

"His opponent, the incumbent in the race, showed up at only one event and, even on that occasion, left before speaking to those who had gathered to listen to the candidates," continued Woodall. "The attitude of the incumbent toward those people is the same attitude he seems to have for the rest of the people of Alabama; he just doesn't seem to care about them. Why would an officeholder not care about the people he is supposed to represent? Maybe the people who know him best have an answer to that question. I have personally heard the incumbent's father on more than one occasion refer to him as 'lazy' and 'dumb***." This is not who we need in the office of a Public Service Commissioner. We need someone who will show up to work and actually earn a paycheck; not someone who is little more than a welfare recipient."

"I am asking Alabamians to join me in voting for a man who will work at the Public Service Commission, who will ask tough questions, and who will remember that he serves the people of our state," Woodall said. "On June 16 I will be voting for Jim Zeigler, and I hope that they will too."

Woodall is a former staffer at the PSC where he worked for Beeker's father. Chris Beeker III was appointed to the PSC by Governor Kay Ivey when his dad retired due to health issue. Woodall is now a retired lawyer.

Woodall finished third in the May primary with 18.3 % of the vote. He trailed Zeigler with 45% and incumbent PSC member Chris Beeker with 24%. Zeigler and Beeker face off in the June 16 runoff.
