June 16, 2026 – Katherine Green Robertson is the Republican nominee for Attorney General for the state of Alabama and one of the rising young female Republican superstars nationally. Robertson had the solid support of the Sheriffs and that translated into an election victory on Tuesday. Robertson bested Jay Mitchell – who left the Alabama Supreme Court 13 months ago to campaign fulltime for this position.
"Thank you, Alabama! I am so honored to be my party's nominee for Attorney General," said Katherine on election night. "We had a wonderful celebration tonight, but the work's only just begun."
Mitchell received 137,412 votes (44.93%) to Robertson's 168,424 votes (55.07%). There were 305,836 votes cast.
Robertson had the Alabama Farmer's Federation support from nearly the beginning of this race and that support never wavered.
"Our members also embraced Katherine's candidacy early on," Farmer's Federation President Jimmy Parnell in a statement. "Her great grandfather was president of Alabama Farm Bureau, and she grew up with a deep appreciation for agriculture and forestry. We are excited for Katherine to continue her strong, conservative leadership in the AG's office."
Robertson also had the support of 29 sheriffs across the state of Alabama and the Republican Attorney General's Association (RAGA).
RAGA posted on X, "Congratulations to RAGA-endorsed Katherine Robertson on winning the Republican nomination for Alabama Attorney General! @KGRob27 will make a fantastic Attorney General for the State of Alabama!"

Robertson raised $5,835,468.44 in her race for AG. Mitchell raised $4,641,731.51 – most of it from Montgomery based trade associations. Robertson was accused by her opponents of accepting dark money.
During an exchange with political pundit and Congressional candidate Chris Horn, Robertson said that 'Dark money' is the money that her opponents wish they had.
Robertson worked for Senator Jeff Sessions, the George W. Bush administration, the Alabama Policy Institute, and the Attorney General's office for both AG Luther Strange and AG Steve Marshall – after a stint helping Sessions prepare for his confirmation hearing for U.S. Attorney General. She and her husband have two children and reside in Vestavia Hills. Robertson is originally from Dallas County where her family has farmed for 208 years.
Robertson now advances to the November 8 general election where she faces Democratic nominee Jeff McLaughlin. At this point McLaughlin has yet to report any cash contributions.
