ASHVILLE, Ala. - A 54‑year‑old Lincoln woman has been charged with murder after St. Clair County deputies discovered a man dead inside an Ashville residence Saturday afternoon, according to the St. Clair County Sheriff's Office.
Discovery of the Victim
Deputies were dispatched around 2:20 p.m. Saturday to a home in the 9000 block of Shoal Creek Road following a call reporting a deceased person. Upon arrival, investigators found Eddie Lee, 68, of Ashville, dead from an apparent gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Suspect Identified and Arrested
Investigators quickly identified Tanya Belzer, 54, as a suspect in the killing. Authorities located Belzer in Lincoln, where she was interviewed by St. Clair County investigators. Following the interview, she was arrested and formally charged with murder in connection with Lee's death.
Bond and Detention
Belzer is being held in the St. Clair County Jail on a $1.5 million bond as of Sunday, according to officials.
Ongoing Investigation
The Sheriff's Office has not released additional details regarding a possible motive or the circumstances leading up to the shooting. The investigation remains active as detectives continue gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses.
