The people's voice of reason

"Love, Liberty & Freedom"

Happy 250th Birthday, USA!!! As we commemorate this historic milestone, it’s a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the values that unite us as Americans. Our nation’s journey has been shaped by the courage, resilience, and hope of generations who have come before us. Let’s take a moment to appreciate the freedoms we cherish and remember the importance of coming together as a community, not just in celebration, but in support of one another.

"You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love." Galatians 5:13

As we pause, let’s reflect on two types of freedom: the blessings of our earthly liberty and the ultimate spiritual freedom found in Christ. May we remember the sacrifices made by countless individuals who fought to protect both. This special anniversary reminds us not only to celebrate, but also to honor the responsibility that comes with freedom—both as citizens and as people of faith.

As followers of Christ, this holiday offers a deeper invitation to reflect on what true freedom looks like. The Apostle Paul reminds us that our ultimate liberty is a gift from Jesus, setting us free from the weight of sin and death. This spiritual freedom isn't an excuse to live just for ourselves. Instead, it is a calling to love and serve those around us.

This year, as we mark America’s Semiquincentennial, consider how you can use your freedom to be a blessing to your local community. Whether it's showing kindness to a neighbor, stepping up to serve others, or simply taking a quiet moment to thank God for the ultimate price Jesus paid for our souls, let your freedom be marked by love.

Many Blessings!
