"Raising The Roof For Jesus" Pro Rodeo Is This Weekend

The Cedar Creek Cowboy Church in Childersburg, Alabama is hosting the "Raising The Roof For Jesus" pro rodeo this weekend. With the gates opening at six o'clock in the evening on Friday, July 31st, 2026 and on Saturday, August 01st, 2026. The first event of the "Raising The Roof For Jesus" rodeo will feature what they call the "Mutton Bustin'" which starts at seven o'clock on Friday night. It is an event geared towards little kids seven years of age and under who also weigh not more than 70 pounds. It requires a $30 USD entry fee and is limited to only 25 riders per night. So those who are interested in being a "Mutton Buster" should check in by 6:45PM.

Admission at the gate for the professional rodeo is $20 USD for adults and $10 USD for kids twelve years of age and under. Little kids who are five years of age and younger are allowed to attend the pro rodeo for free. Tickets that are purchased at the gate will be cash only. So those who are interested in attending the "Raising The Roof For Jesus" rodeo need to make sure and stop by the ATM or get cash back at the grocery store, ahead of time. The professional rodeo portion of the "Raising The Roof For Jesus" rodeo begins at eight o'clock PM on both Friday and Saturday.

The professional rodeo will have competition events in bareback riding, saddle bronc riding, calf roping, breakaway roping, steer wrestling, team roping, cowgirls barrel racing, and bull riding. The rodeo entertainer will be "Big Hat Roxy". The rodeo will be held at the Cedar Creek Cowboy Church which is located at 6760 Childersburg Fayetteville Highway in Childersburg, Alabama.

The Cedar Creek Cowboy Church is part of the growing cowboy Church trend that first began in 1970 when Ted Pressley formed the Baptist-affiliated Cowboys for Christ. Typically, a cowboy Church is a Christian Church that embraces the Western Heritage of the American frontier. About 5,000 cowboy Churches are in the USA at present. With the cowboy Churches practicing water baptism either in the wilderness somewhere or in a stock tank. Cowboy Churches are mostly located in the USA, Canada, and Mexico. But, there are also some in Australia and other places.

Typically, the attire at a cowboy Church service consists of jeans, boots, and cowboy hats. The music is often gospel or bluegrass music. With Sunday Church services in some of the rural cowboy Churches being scheduled for later in the morning to give cowboy Church goers time to finish their ranch chores. According to some estimates, there are currently 19 cowboy Churches affiliated with the American Fellowship of Cowboy Churches in Alabama.
