Alabama Republican State Executive Committee passes resolution commending Supreme Court for ruling in favor of girls sports

The resolution was brought from the floor by former State Representative Perry O. Hooper Jr. representing Montgomery County.

"I am grateful that the Alabama Republican Party State Executive Committee passed the resolution I introduced commending the United States Supreme Court and honoring the leaders who stood firm for fairness in women's and girls' sports," Hooper said in a statement. "

Hooper had to overcome a motion to adjourn by Chris Brown of Jefferson County. The Committee voted to table the adjourning motion to allow Hooper to bring his resolution.

Hooper thank Republican Party Chairman state Representative Scott Stadthagen (R-Hartselle) "For his leadership in allowing the resolution to come before the committee and ensuring that an attempt to adjourn did not prevent the members from voting. His leadership gave the State Executive Committee the opportunity to speak clearly and decisively on an issue that matters deeply to Alabama families."

Hooper also thanked state Representative Susan DuBose (R-Greystone) and Senator April Weaver (R-Briarfield) for sponsoring the state legislation that prevents boys claiming to be transgenders from participating in women's and girls' athletics in Alabama. Hooper also thanked Governor Kay Ivey for signing the bill. The Supreme Court ruled that President Joe Biden (D) had no authority to redefine women under Title IX – a move that would have devasted women's sports across the country.

"This resolution does more than recognize a court decision. It places the Alabama Republican Party firmly on the side of biological reality, fair competition and the original promise of Title IX," explained Hooper. "It declares that women and girls should not be forced to surrender athletic opportunities, championships, scholarships or places on a team because political activists demand that common sense be ignored."

The Supreme Court's June 30, 2026, decisions in West Virginia v. B.P.J. and Little v. Hecox upheld the authority of states to reserve women's and girls' athletic teams for biological females.

Alabama was one of the first states to push back against this bizarre anti-women plank on the LGBTQ+ agenda

"I am thankful that President Donald J. Trump appointed the Supreme Court majority that restored common sense and upheld the authority of states to protect female athletics," said Hooper. "Elections have consequences, and this decision demonstrates the lasting importance of President Trump's judicial legacy."

"By passing this resolution, the Alabama Republican Party sent a clear message that we will continue to stand with female athletes, defend fairness and reject every effort to erase the distinctions that make women's sports possible," Hooper concluded. "This was not merely a symbolic vote. It was a statement of principle, gratitude and resolve."

The majority opinion was written by Justice Brett Kavanaigh.

The 440-member Alabama Republican Party State Executive Committee meets twice a year. Saturday's meeting was held at Montgomery's Renaissance Hotel and Conference Center.
