Auburn Lands Major Manufacturing Boost as Governor Ivey Announces 2A USA's $32 Million Expansion

Alabama's advanced manufacturing sector is getting another major lift. Governor Kay Ivey announced Wednesday that 2A USA - the North American division of Italian aluminum die‑casting leader 2A S.p.A. - will invest $32 million to expand its Auburn facility, adding 50 new jobs and significantly increasing production capacity for the heavy‑truck industry.

A Strategic Win for Alabama Manufacturing

Governor Ivey framed the expansion as a clear endorsement of Alabama's industrial strength and workforce.

"Advanced manufacturing is a pillar of Alabama's economy and 2A USA's presence and growth in our state is a testament to its products and company standards," Governor Ivey said.

"It is also a strong vote of confidence in Alabama's workforce and our pro-business environment."

The Auburn plant, located in Technology Park West, has become a key U.S. hub for the company since 2A USA entered Alabama in 2014. The company has steadily invested in state‑of‑the‑art die‑casting and machining equipment, including a $15 million expansion in 2019. The new investment will further strengthen its ability to produce complex, large aluminum components "Made in the USA" for North American heavy‑truck manufacturers.

Commerce Secretary Ellen McNair highlighted the broader significance of the announcement:

With Alabama's automotive supply chain continuing to grow, 2A USA's increased capacity positions the state to remain competitive in supplying advanced components to major truck manufacturers.
