Huntsville voters go to the polls today to select City Council and school board members

August 25, 2026 – HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Huntsville voters go to the polls to elect members of the city council and the board of education.

In City Council District 2 Thomas Casez faces David Little.

In City Council District 3 Liliana Peinder, Jennie Robinson, and John Stuart are all on the ballot.

In City Council District 4 the candidates are Nick Frevold, Bill Kling, and Will Pylant.

Unlike many Alabama municipalities, Huntsville has an elected city board of education.

For Board of Education District 2 Holly McCarty faces Matt Woolsey.

In the Board of Education District 3 race Robert "Coach P" Person faces Payten Redfearn

In Board of Education District 4 Ryan Renaud was unopposed and has already been declared the winner by the City Council at the July 9 regular meeting when no one else qualified.

Polls open at 7:00 a.m. and close at 7:00 p.m. To participate, voters need to bring a valid photo ID with them to the polls.

Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle is up for reelection in 2028.

Because Huntsville has staggered city Council terms, Districts 2, 3, and 4 are holding city council elections today, Tuesday, August 25, 2026. Districts 1 and 5 line up with the mayoral cycle and will next vote in 2028.
