    Republican primary voters went to the polls in Alabama House of Representatives District 27. Just 3,579 Republicans voted in this special election – even though there were six very different candidates on the special election ballot. According to preliminary results, Jeana Ross will be in a runoff on April 30 with Alan Miller.     On Tuesday the Troy University baseball team defeated Alabama State University 14 to 3. Troy got out to an early lead with three runs in the second inning. The men of Troy picked up another run in the third inning. ASU scored two runs in the fourth inning, but gave up another run. Troy built on their lead in the sixth inning with four more runs.     On Wednesday, the Auburn baseball team defeated UAB 10 to 4. The game had been scheduled for Tuesday, but was postponed until Wednesday due to severe weather.     Both Houses of the Alabama Legislature have passed versions of the gambling bill. The two versions are dramatically different. On Thursday the House of Representatives voted not to concur with the Senate version of the bill. This means that they have sent the issue to a conference committee.     The minor league baseball season is underway. The Birmingham Barons kicked off their 2024 season with a win over the Chattanooga Lookouts.     On Wednesday, a federal court unsealed two indictments against and arrested, Benjamin Douglas Calvert – age 26 of Irondale – in connection with a bomb detonated outside of the Alabama Attorney General's building in Montgomery on February 24.
