Summer time is upon us and that means it's time again for Show-N-Tell Summer Camp! The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office will be hosting our annual Show-N-Tell Summer Camp at Camp Chandler for Montgomery County youth between the ages of 9-11. This week-long camp will be held August 3rd-7th and is totally free and promotes positive interaction and life-rewarding skills. Children are bused from Montgomery to the camp site on August 3rd, stay overnight the entire week and are bused back to Montgomery on August 7th. Activities include canoeing, archery, arts and crafts, swimming, outdoor survival skills and of course, a BIG DANCE on the Thursday before they depart from camp. There will be deputies and correction officers on site the entire week to supervise the kids and make sure everyone benefits from the camp!

Slots are filling up fast so don't delay turning in your application! Last day to apply is July 1st (Copy of the child's birth certificate required to apply). Contact Lisa Crenshaw at: lisacrenshaw@mc-ala.org or 334.832.1339 for camp applications.

Think your teen may be "experimenting" with drugs, alcohol or tobacco? It's best to solve problems before they occur or get much worse. Unfortunately, "friends" often try harder to make kids who say "no" to drugs, alcohol and tobacco feel like outcasts. Home testing kits have emerged that protect privacy and provide kids with a socially acceptable excuse, "My parents test me." For years, police have been the first to know when local kids used drugs while their parents were often the last to know. Now there is a way to REVERSE that trend!

Montgomery County Sheriff's Office recently announced a new alliance with TestMyTeen.com, an organization that has donated free home drug test kit vouchers to be shared anonymously with parents who need them. Go to our website www.MontgomerySheriff.com and click "Public Interest", then click "TEST MY TEEN" and follow the instructions...it's that simple!
