The people's voice of reason
October 1, 2024 - Washington, D.C. – Congressman Mike Rogers (R-Saks), the Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, released a statement immediately following Iran's missile attack on Israel.
"I am praying for the people of Israel as they face this unjustified attack by Iran," said Chairman Rogers. "Israel reserves every right to defend their nation against Iran and its terrorist proxies. The Biden-Harris administration must provide Israel with any and all military support they need as they defend themselves against Iran's unprovoked attack. Today and every day, we must stand with Israel."
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF)announced that Iran has launched missile attacks in a statement on Tuesday. The IDF has urged that all Israeli citizens go to bomb shelters. Iran previously launched more than 400 missiles, rockets, and drones at Israel in April. Almost all were intercepted by the Israelis, the U.S. Navy, and their allies.
President Joseph R. Biden (D) has authorized the U.S. armed forces in the region to intercept missiles targeting Israel.
U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina) responded to Iran's missile attack saying that it deserves an "overwhelming response" from the United States.
"This is a moment of choosing for the free world regarding Iran," said Senator Graham. "The Ayatollah and Iranian regime are religious Nazis who want to destroy the state of Israel – their words, not mine. They want to purify Islam and attack the United States – again, their words, not mine."
"This missile attack against Israel should be the breaking point and I would urge the Biden Administration to coordinate an overwhelming response with Israel, starting with Iran's ability to refine oil," Graham continued. "These oil refineries need to be hit and hit hard because that is the source of cash for the regime to perpetrate their terror. My prayers are with the people of Israel, and may God continue to bless Israel."
The Israeli military said its air defense systems were fully operational and ready to intercept missiles.
The aggressive move by Iran followed predawn incursions by the IDF into Lebanon to fight Hezbollah. On Friday, Israel killed the longtime leader of Hezbollah – Hassan Nasrallah
Iran's Revolutionary Guard said in a statement that the missile attack was revenge for the deaths of Nasrallah and other Hezbollah leaders. The terrorist group Hezbollah is a client state of Iran.
Israel is still fighting Hamas (another Iranian backed terror group) in Gaza.
