Steve Marshall says that Kamala Harris and California Democrats have sided with the LA rioters

June 9, 2025 – MONTGOMERY, AL – Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall (R) denounced a statement by former Vice President Kamala Harris (D) appearing to side with violent rioters in Los Angeles over law enforcement tasked with protected the people and property of LA. Marshall said that if California Governor Gavin Newsom does not act with President Donald J. Trump (R) will.

"CA Democrats have sided with violent rioters over the brave men and women of law enforcement- vilifying ICE agents, undermining public safety, and fueling chaos," Marshall said in a statement on his X social media account. "It's time to end sanctuary cities and restore order. If Gov Newsom won't act, then Pres Trump will. Enough is Enough!"

Marshall's comments were in direct response to a statement by VP Harris – herself a former Attorney General and District Attorney.

VP Harris called Trump's deployment of the National Guard in California a "dangerous escalation meant to provoke chaos."

Despite scenes of protestors burning cars, throwing rocks and Molotov Cocktails at police, Harris called the protests "Overwhelmingly peaceful."

Harris's statement supported the rioters claiming, "Protest is a powerful tool – essential in the fight for justice."

Harris went on to condemn the efforts by ICE to enforce our immigration laws as, "Part of the Trump Administration's cruel, calculated agenda to spread panic and division."

Critics of the former Vice President denounced her statement and claimed that the nation "Dodged a bull" when voters elected Trump over Harris.

President Trump on Monday described the Los Angeles protests against his administration's migrant deportation policies as "well under control."

California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) has filed a lawsuit claiming that President Trump overstepped his authority by mobilizing the National Guard. Newsom also pushed back on the President's suggestion that the 24 million illegal were an "invasion" against the U.S. government.

Trump said that he is actually aiding Newsom.

"Gavin is the big beneficiary as we straighten out his problems. I mean, his state is a mess," Trump told reporters.

Late on Monday after, the Trump administration deployed roughly 700 active-duty U.S. Marines to the Los Angeles area to protect federal buildings and personnel and not to engage with protesters.

There were Marine Corps Cobra gunships flying over the streets of L.A. in support of this mission.

Newsom said on social media, "This isn't about public safety. It's about stroking a dangerous President's ego. This is Reckless. Pointless. And Disrespectful to our troops."

Steve Marshall is a 2026 candidate for the Senate seat that Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Alabama) is not running for.

Tuberville, on Monday, said that the violent rioters "have no place in America."

Kamala Harris is a candidate for Governor of California replacing Newsom, who is term limited.

Tuberville is running for Governor. Both Marshall and Gov. Kay Ivey are term limited.
