ALGOP Summer Dinner Postponed Following Trump's Senate Endorsement of Michael Whatley

July 26, 2025 - HOOVER, AL - The Alabama Republican Party (ALGOP) has officially postponed its upcoming Summer Dinner, which was scheduled for Friday, August 1st, following a high-profile endorsement by former President Donald J. Trump.

Trump's endorsement of Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Whatley as a candidate for the U.S. Senate race in North Carolina-a key battleground ahead of the 2026 elections-prompted the change. Whatley had been slated to serve as the keynote speaker at the Montgomery event.

"This is an exciting moment for our Party and the nation," said ALGOP Chairman John Wahl. "Chairman Whatley is a strong conservative leader, and we fully support him as he considers stepping into one of the most important races in the country."

Wahl emphasized that the endorsement has affected Whatley's schedule and travel plans, and said the party understands the priority of a potential Senate bid.

"We recognize that preserving a Republican majority in the U.S. Senate is critical to the future of our country, and that must remain our highest priority," Wahl stated.

ALGOP is working to reschedule the dinner and promises updates once new details are confirmed. All ticket purchases and sponsorships will be honored or refunded for the rescheduled event.

Wahl expressed gratitude to supporters and reaffirmed the party's commitment to building momentum at both the state and national level.

"Together, we are building momentum to elect strong conservative leaders and defend our values-both here in Alabama and across the nation," he said.
