Bibb County Child Sex Abuse Case: Seven Indicted in Trafficking Ring Involving Underground Bunker

July 25, 2025 - BRENT, AL - In one of the most harrowing criminal investigations in Alabama's recent history, seven individuals have been indicted in connection with a child sex trafficking ring operating out of a bunker in Bibb County. The case has shocked the community and drawn national attention for its brutality and scale.

Timeline of Discovery

The investigation began in February 2025, when the Alabama Department of Human Resources received a report of child abuse at a residence on Aaron Drive in Brent. Deputies from the Bibb County Sheriff's Office uncovered a partially underground storm shelter behind the home, which had been converted into a site of repeated sexual abuse.

Inside the bunker, investigators found:

- A dirty mattress, chairs, and restraints

- Evidence of children being tied to poles, beds, or chairs

- Signs of multiple offenders visiting nightly to abuse victims

The Accused

Seven suspects have been arrested and face charges including rape, sodomy, sexual torture, kidnapping, and human trafficking. Those indicted include:

- William Chase McElroy

- Dalton Terrell

- Andres Trejo-Velazquez

- Timothy St. John

- Rebecca Brewer

- Ricky Terrell

- Sara Terrell

Some of the accused are related, while others were acquaintances or individuals who allegedly paid to abuse children.

Victims and Impact

Authorities have identified at least 10 victims, ranging in age from 3 to 15 years old. Sheriff Jody Wade described the case as "the most horrible thing I've ever seen when it comes to the victimization of children". He added that some victims may have been trafficked for up to $1,000 a night, and the abuse was believed to be connected to the Sureños gang, which allegedly funds operations through child trafficking.

Legal Proceedings

The suspects face arraignment hearings in August and September. Sheriff Wade emphasized that more arrests and victims are expected as the investigation continues. The sheriff's office has pledged to work with DHR and trauma specialists to ensure the children receive long-term care and support.

Community Response

Residents of Brent expressed disbelief and outrage. "It gives me chills thinking about it," said one neighbor. "No child deserves to be abused or mistreated". Sheriff Wade urged the public to report any suspicions of abuse, saying, "If you see something, say something."
