July 26, 2025 - BRENT, AL - A disturbing child sex trafficking ring uncovered in Bibb County has led to the arrest of seven individuals, with authorities warning that more suspects and victims may still be identified. The crimes, described by law enforcement as among the most horrific in recent memory, allegedly took place in an underground storm shelter near Brent and involved children as young as three years old.
The Perpetrators and Charges
The following individuals have been charged in connection with the case:
- William "Chase" McElroy (21): Charged with four counts of first-degree rape, six counts of sodomy, six counts of human trafficking of a minor, and four counts of kidnapping.
- Dalton Terrell (21): Faces five counts of first-degree rape, seven counts of sodomy, six counts of human trafficking of a minor, and four counts of kidnapping.
- Andres Trejo-Velazquez (29): Allegedly the ringleader, charged with human trafficking and accused of drugging and tying up children, then allowing others to pay for access to them.
- Timothy St. John (23): Charged with rape, sodomy, kidnapping, bestiality, and aggravated cruelty to animals.
- Rebecca Brewer, Sara Terrell, and Ricky Terrell: Charged with various offenses including sexual torture, rape, and human trafficking. All three are being held without bond pending preliminary hearings.
The Crimes
Investigators say the abuse occurred over at least two years inside a storm shelter outfitted with restraints. Victims were allegedly drugged, tied to beds, chairs, and poles, and subjected to repeated sexual assaults. Some suspects are believed to be parents of the children involved.
Assistant District Attorney Bryan Jones described the shelter as a "bunker" where children were trafficked nightly. "The children were tied to the bed, to the chairs, to a pole, and these individuals would have sex with these children," Jones said. "Mr. Trejo was allowing people to pay money to come in and have sex with the children".
Community Reaction and Ongoing Investigation
The Bibb County community has responded with shock and grief. A prayer vigil was held outside the courthouse, and Sheriff Jody Wade said the case has shaken even seasoned investigators. "This is absolutely the most horrible thing I've ever seen when it comes to the victimization of children," Wade stated.
Authorities are working with federal agencies, including the Department of Homeland Security, to investigate possible gang ties and immigration-related aspects of the case. Officials expect additional arrests and victims to emerge as the investigation continues.
The number of victims has been confirmed to be at least ten, but as of now, seven suspects have been formally arrested and charged in connection with the Bibb County child sex trafficking ring.
Authorities have stated that more arrests are expected, and there are allegations involving up to 12 additional men who may have paid to abuse the children. However, those individuals have not yet been publicly identified or charged.
So while the scope of the case is expanding, the official count of charged suspects remains at seven - for now.
