It's been one year since the unthinkable nearly happened.
One year since an assassin tried to kill Donald J. Trump-now the 47th President of the United States-and nearly succeeded. One year since a rooftop sniper, in broad daylight, nearly altered the course of history with a single bullet. And one year since the American people, horrified by the failure of their own government to protect him, came roaring back louder, stronger, and more determined than ever.
That day-July 13, 2024-was supposed to silence a movement. Instead, it reignited it.
What should have been a tragedy became a rallying cry. Because as the blood ran down President Trump's face, he stood tall, fist in the air, and reminded the nation what real leadership looks like.
As he told the world just days later at the Republican National Convention:
"I took a bullet for democracy-and I will never stop fighting for you."
That wasn't theater. That was truth. A truth the American people understood deeply. But here's another truth: this should never have happened. Not in this country. Not with the resources we give our federal agencies. Not with the threats we all saw coming. Let's call it what it was-a disgraceful failure by Joe Biden's FBI and Joe Biden's Secret Service.
That rooftop in Butler wasn't secured. The shooter had time to assemble a rifle in plain view. Attendees tried to warn the authorities. A good man, first responder Corey Comperatore, gave his life shielding his family. Others were wounded. And the man who should have been under maximum protection, the leading candidate for President of the United States, was left exposed by a federal apparatus more focused on political vendettas than actual security.
This was Biden's FBI, the same FBI that raided President Trump's home, targeted Catholics and pro-life activists, monitored parents at school board meetings, and colluded with Big Tech to silence dissent. But when it came time to protect a former President at a major public rally?
They failed. Completely. And then, in typical deep-state fashion, Biden's DOJ and FBI rushed to declare the shooter a "lone wolf." No broader plot. No network. No deeper motive. Case closed. Another isolated incident they said, like it was a routine background check gone wrong. Americans know better. And they're not buying the whitewash.
Who radicalized the shooter, Thomas Matthew Crooks? Where did he get the rifle? Who funded him? Why has so much of the evidence been classified, withheld, or destroyed? Why didn't Biden's FBI answer real questions?
And don't forget: Biden's Secret Service failed too. It was their job to secure that perimeter. Their job is to clear that rooftop. Their job to do what they did for Joe Biden for four years build a wall of impenetrable protection. But for President Trump? They dropped the ball. It's not just incompetence: it looks like indifference. Or worse.
But here's what the deep state didn't count on: President Trump doesn't flinch.
The moment they tried to kill the man; they built the myth. The blood on that rally stage didn';t end the movement, it sanctified it. That sniper didn't stop the campaign, he supercharged it. And that bullet? It missed not just the man; it missed the mission. Because this mission never stopped. America was First again. Secure the border. Restore law and order. Unleash our energy. End the endless wars. And take our country back from the corrupt, the cowardly, and the compromised.
Days after the attack, President Trump walked into the Republican National Convention-scarred, yes-but victorious. The crowd erupted. The base surged. Even independents opened their eyes. Because for the first time in decades, they saw a man willing to literally take a bullet for this country-and keep marching forward.
One year later, President Trump is back in the White House-where he belongs. The American people put him there, not despite what happened in Butler, but because of it. They saw the truth. They felt the urgency. And they knew the moment was too big for politics, polls, or pundit spin.
Let's never forget what almost happened. Let's never stop demanding answers. And let's never let this happen again.
No more bureaucratic excuses. No more secret reports. No more two-tiered justice systems where Biden's FBI can go after moms and priests but not stop a real assassin with a rifle in plain sight.
America stood on the edge that day. And by the grace of God-and the iron will of one man-we didn't fall. We remember. We rebuild. And now, with President Trump back in charge, we fight harder than ever. One year later, we honor the hero who gave his life, we celebrate the man who survived, and we renew our vow:
Never again.
