August 6, 2025 – MONTGOMERY, AL - The Alabama Republican Party has held a commanding supermajority in both Houses of the Alabama Legislature since the red wave election of 2010, which ended 135 years of Democratic Party domination of the Alabama House and Senate. The 2026 election is still 15 months away; but there has been no sign that Democrats are mounting a credible challenge to the GOP's commanding supermajority in recent campaign finance reports detailing the efforts of the two parties in Alabama House of Representative race,
Alabama House Republican candidates have already raised $1,413,738 and spent $494,993.33 as House Republicans are gathering resources ahead of the 2026 election.
Notable Republican House candidates include:
Michael Beck from Winfield who is running for House District 17. He reports having raised $100,924.83 thus far in his campaign.
Rep. Joe Lovvorn of Auburn in HD79 has already $109,785 in contributions this year. This gives him $381,562.54 in cash for the political wars ahead. Lovvorn is the House Rules Committee Chairman.
Rep. Danny Garrett of Trussville in House District 44 has raised $69,535.00 to give him a war chest of $309,356.37. Garrett is the Chairman of the powerful Ways & Means General Fund committee that prepares the $10 billion education trust fund budget.
Rep, Andy Whitt of Harvest in HD6 reports having already raised $56,850.00 taking his campaign's cash on hand up to $176,252.28
Speaker of the House Nathaniel Ledbetter of Rainsville in HD24 has raised $206,500.00 to raise his cash on hand to $362,172.90.
Republicans are outraising Democrats 9 to 1 in House races thus far.
Democratic candidates for the Alabama House of Representatives candidates have only managed to raise $151,850.53 thus far in the cycle and they have spent $67,183.56 of that.
Top Democratic House candidates include:
Rep. Marilyn Lands of Huntsville in HD10. She received $58,885 in contributions to help grow her cash on hand up to $103,312.07. Lands managed to flip a Republican district in the fast-growing Madison County to Democrat during a recent special election. Retaking HD10 is likely going to be a top priority for Republicans in 2026.
Alicia Ruth Lumpkin of Birmingham in HD60 has raised $22,891.07. After spending of $3,354.03 this leaves Lumpkin with $19,537.04 in her campaign account.
This trend of Republican candidates outpace Democrats is being repeated across the state. Republican candidates have already raised a staggering $17,316,386.81. Even though we are already seven months into 2025, Democratic Candidates have only raised $419,280.46 in all of their campaign accounts combined. Tommy Tuberville by himself has raised more than twelve times that in his bid to win the Republican nomination for Governor.
Tuberville has raised an impressive $5,224,115.59 in just two and a half months of campaigning. His Democratic opponents: Rev. Will Boyd and Chad "Chig" Martin have meanwhile struggled to raise just $9,250 and $6,141.34 respectively – most of which will be spent in the Democratic primary. Tuberville makes more money than that each month on the interest on his war chest. His only Republican opponent Ken McFeeters is yet to report having raised any money.
Political Action Committee report having raised $13,457,555.07 in contributions. Some of that money may ultimately go to Democrats; but most of that is likely going to Republican candidates as it appears – based on these numbers – that Republicans are poised to safely retain their control over Alabama's statewide offices, appellate courts, and the Legislature.
