August 2, 2025 - WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) has secured a slate of funding and policy victories for Alabama in the U.S. Senate's latest appropriations package, covering Veterans Affairs, agriculture, military construction, and rural development initiatives.
Among the most notable accomplishments, Sen. Tuberville introduced and passed an amendment requiring the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to periodically report how staffing models are used to improve veteran care. The measure seeks to boost transparency following controversial administrative decisions, including the rehiring of previously dismissed employees and allegations of care being extended to undocumented immigrants.
"As the son of a World War II veteran, I have seen firsthand the critical role the VA plays," said Tuberville. "The Trump administration is focused on making sure veterans have timely access to quality care and benefits. We need to support Secretary Collins in this mission-not get distracted by politics."
In rural development, Tuberville championed a $1.5 million increase to the USDA's Rural Water and Waste Disposal Program Account. The funds aim to bolster decentralized wastewater infrastructure across underserved regions, notably Alabama's Black Belt.
"This is a HUGE WIN for Alabama's Black Belt," said Tuberville. "Everyone deserves equal access to clean water and wastewater services, regardless of zip code."
Additional Alabama-focused allocations in the funding package include:
- Fort Rucker: $7.4 million for the Flat Iron Support Center
- Pike Road: $440,000 for the Agriculture Job Development and Career Center
Tuberville's legislative successes reaffirm his position on key committees-Armed Services, Agriculture, Veterans' Affairs, HELP, and Aging-as he continues to advocate for Alabama's priorities on Capitol Hill.
