JEFFERSON COUNTY, AL., November 5, 2025 - The Alabama Farmers Federation has announced its endorsement of Rep. Jim Carns for Alabama House District 48, which covers portions of Jefferson and Shelby counties.
"Rep. Carns is a long-time conservative businessman who knows firsthand what it takes to run a business," said Brad Fuller, president of the Jefferson County Farmers Federation. "We are proud to continue our support of his candidacy."
Shelby County farmers also praised Carns' record of service.
"Rep. Carns is a conservative's conservative who works hard for us in Shelby County, and it shows," said Phillip Hunter, president of the Shelby County Farmers Federation. "We are proud to continue to give him our full support."
Carns is a lifelong resident of Jefferson County and a graduate of the University of Alabama with a B.S. in engineering. He previously served on the Jefferson County Commission.
Carns chairs the House Commerce and Small Business Committee. He also chairs the Jefferson County House Delegation, the largest legislative delegation in the state.
"It is humbling to receive the endorsement of the Farmers Federation," said Carns. "They are a conservative, hard-working group of people who constantly look for ways to enhance and improve our district. I am proud to join them in those efforts."
Carns and his late wife, Judy, have three children and six grandchildren. Carns is a member of Briarwood Presbyterian Church where he serves as an elder.
The Alabama Farmers Federation is the state's largest farm organization with more than 360,000 member families. It uses a true grassroots approach to select candidates, relying on Alabama FarmPAC endorsements from county Federation boards of directors for local elections.
