Lloyd Peeples Announces Candidacy for Alabama House District 48, Emphasizing Accountability and Community Roots

Vestavia Hills, AL - After years of public service and deep community involvement, Lloyd Peeples has officially declared his candidacy for the Alabama House of Representatives, seeking to represent District 48. A longtime federal prosecutor and small business owner, Peeples enters the race with a platform focused on fiscal accountability, public safety, and creating opportunities for Alabama's next generation.

"I've spent most of my professional career serving the public as a federal prosecutor, standing beside victims, holding criminals accountable, and working to make our communities safer," Peeples said in his announcement. "I'm also a small business owner, a husband, and a dad raising two kids right here in this district. I want to help strengthen our district and state so that our children have more opportunities than we did and don't leave after graduation because they don't see a path to build their own careers here."

Peeples' candidacy reflects a blend of legal experience and local investment. His work in the courtroom, combined with his role as a business owner and parent, has shaped a pragmatic approach to governance. He emphasized that while Alabama has strong leadership, it needs more problem solvers willing to scrutinize spending and deliver measurable results.

"Alabama has some great leaders, but it also needs more problem solvers," Peeples said. "My commitment is simple: every dollar the state spends should deliver real value to the people it serves. The people of our district work hard, pay their taxes, and deserve to know their money is being used wisely."

Peeples outlined a platform centered on eliminating waste, reducing bureaucracy, and improving transparency in state government. He pledged to fight for results-driven spending that prioritizes community impact without compromising essential services.

"No matter how accountable government tries to be, there will always be waste and misplaced priorities," he said. "In Montgomery, I'll fight to eliminate waste, reduce unnecessary bureaucracy, improve transparency, and focus on results-driven spending-making government more efficient and delivering more back to our communities without cutting essential services."

District 48 includes parts of Jefferson and Shelby counties, encompassing communities like Vestavia Hills, Mountain Brook, and portions of Hoover. The district has long been known for its engaged electorate and emphasis on education, infrastructure, and public safety-issues Peeples says align with his experience and priorities.

As the campaign unfolds, Peeples plans to meet with voters across the district, listening to concerns and sharing his vision for a more responsive and efficient state government. His announcement marks the beginning of what he describes as a "community-first campaign," rooted in service and focused on practical solutions.

For residents of District 48, Peeples' candidacy offers a blend of legal expertise, business acumen, and family-centered values. His message is clear: Alabama's future depends on leaders who understand the stakes, respect the taxpayers, and are committed to building a state where families thrive and young people stay.

Peoples faces a crowded GOP primary that includes incumbent Jim Carns and William Wentowski.
