The United States has toppled the Maduro government in Venezuela

January 3, 2025 - WASHINGTON, D.C. – President Donald J. Trump (R) announced on Friday that the U.S. military has toppled the Venezuelan dictator Nicholas Maduro.

President Trump said on Truth Social – "The United States of America has successfully carried out a large-scale strike against Venezuela and its leader, President Nicolas Maduro, who has been, along with his wife, captured and flown out of the Country. This operation was done in conjunction with U.S. Law Enforcement. Details to follow. There will be a News Conference today at 11 A.M., at Mar-a-Lago. Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DONALD J. TRUMP"

News sources are reporting that explosions were reported across Caracas and in the states of Miranda, Aragua, and La Guaira. Witnesses described low‑flying jets, fireballs, and plumes of smoke over the capital for roughly 90 minutes.

Attorney General Pam Bondi said Maduro will face U.S. charges including narco‑terrorism, weapons offenses, and drug‑importation conspiracies in the Southern District of New York.

CBS News is reporting that the Delta Force led the operation to seize Maduro.

The strike followed months of U.S. military buildup in the Caribbean, including the USS Gerald Ford aircraft carrier and its escorts, F‑35s, and a submarine with cruise missiles.

President Trump called for Maduro to resign back in November.

Maduro had offered to negotiate this week about the ongoing narco-trafficking; but Trump said that there was nothing to negotiate.

Hugo Chavez – an avowed communist was elected President of Venezuela decades ago. Every election since has been widely condemned as fraudulent. The regime has jailed political critics and journalists repeatedly and hundreds of thousands of Venezuelans have fled the country.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on social media last year that, "Nicholas Maduro is not the President of Venezuela and his regime is not the legitimate government. Maduro is the head of the de Los Soles a narco-terror organization that has taken possession of the country. He is under indictment for pushing drugs into the United States.

Media sources are reporting the Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodriguez is in Russia. She released a statement earlier today asking for proof that Maduro and his wife are still alive.

Her brother, Jorge Rodriguez, the head of the national assembly, is reportedly in Caracas.
