Senator Katie Britt Secures Over $111 Million for Alabama in FY26 Appropriations Package

WASHINGTON, D.C. - January 30, 2026 - U.S. Senator Katie Britt (R-Ala.) announced a major funding victory for Alabama this week, securing more than $111.3 million in direct appropriations for state priorities as part of a sweeping Fiscal Year 2026 legislative package. The bills, passed by the Senate on Wednesday, now head to the U.S. House of Representatives before landing on President Trump's desk for final approval.

As a member of the powerful Senate Committee on Appropriations, Britt played a central role in shaping the package, which includes five major funding bills: the Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education (LHHS) Appropriations Act, the Transportation, Housing and Urban Development (THUD) Appropriations Act, the Financial Services and General Government (FSGG) Appropriations Act, the National Security and State Department Appropriations Act, and the Defense Appropriations Act. A two-week continuing resolution for the Department of Homeland Security was also included.

Once signed into law, Britt will have directly secured over $200.7 million for Alabama through FY26 appropriations.

"Alabama Is Stronger, Safer, and More Secure"

In a statement following the Senate vote, Senator Britt emphasized the impact of the funding on Alabama's communities, infrastructure, and defense readiness:

"Alabama is stronger, safer, and more secure because of the funding package we passed in the Senate today. The passage of this package of bills will invest in critical medical and research equipment, fund transportation and infrastructure projects across the state, strengthen military readiness, increase our servicemembers' pay, and modernize our defense industrial base," Britt said.

She added that her work on the Appropriations Committee would continue until all 12 annual funding bills are finalized and signed into law.

These funds are expected to support both urban and rural development, with a focus on improving mobility, safety, and economic opportunity.
