LAUDERDALE COUNTY, Feb. 26 - The Alabama Farmers Federation has endorsed Maurice McCaney for Alabama House of Representatives District 1 in Lauderdale County.
"Maurice McCaney is a conservative Republican whose principles and ideals are closely aligned with ours," said Colt Clemmons, president of the Lauderdale County Farmers Federation. "He will be an excellent advocate for agriculture, farmers and all the people of Lauderdale County."
McCaney is a lifelong resident of Lauderdale County. He graduated from the University of Alabama at Birmingham with a B.S. in political science and sociology. He also received a B.A. in English from Samford University and a J.D. degree from Cumberland School of Law. He is a practicing attorney at Woodruff & McCaney LLC.
McCaney is a board member for the Alabama Christian Education Association, American Association of Christian Schools and the Lauderdale County Republican Executive Committee. He serves in leadership with Victory Christian Academy.
"It is an honor to be endorsed by anyone - particularly a group as well-known for their hard work and conservative values as the Lauderdale County Farmers Federation," said McCaney. "I am honored and look forward to working with them and other constituents across our county."
McCaney and his wife, Lorraine, have one son. They attend Victory Christian Fellowship Church.
The Alabama Farmers Federation is the state's largest farm organization with more than 360,000 member families. It uses a true grassroots approach to endorse candidates relying on decisions made by county Farmers Federation boards for local elections.
