Wahl Campaign Reports More Than Half a Million Dollars Raised in First Week After Primary Win

May 29, 2026 - ATHENS, Ala. - Fresh off his first‑place finish in the Republican primary for Lieutenant Governor, John Wahl is entering the runoff with a major financial surge. His campaign announced Thursday that it raised more than half a million dollars in the first week following the primary, a show of strength Wahl says reflects growing conservative momentum across Alabama.

According to the campaign, the total includes more than $475,000 in direct contributions and an additional $50,000 in committed independent expenditures from the American Principles Project.

By comparison, campaign finance reports show that Wahl's opponent, Secretary of State Wes Allen, raised $197,375 during the same post‑primary period.

Momentum After a First‑Place Finish

Wahl's strong fundraising haul comes on the heels of his decisive primary victory, which positioned him as the leading contender heading into the runoff. His campaign says the rapid influx of donations demonstrates broad support from grassroots conservatives, small‑business owners, and voters energized by his message of lower taxes, limited government, parental rights, and firm conservative leadership in Montgomery.

"This campaign has never been about the political establishment. It has always been about the people of Alabama," Wahl said in a statement. "I am humbled by the incredible support we have received since election night. Voters sent a clear message in the primary, and now donors, grassroots conservatives, and supporters across the state are stepping up to help us finish the job."

Positioning for the Runoff

Wahl's team says the early fundraising advantage underscores his momentum heading into the next phase of the race. The campaign describes itself as "united, energized, and ready for the fight ahead."

"Alabama needs a Lieutenant Governor who will stand up for working families, fight to cut taxes, defend our freedoms, protect our children, and never back down from our conservative values," Wahl said. "That is exactly what I will do."
