Beaverton Mayor Susan Chase has died

July 15, 2026 – BEAVERTON, Ala. – The City of Beaverton announced on social media that sitting Mayor Susan Chae has passed away.

"With a broken heart  i'm announcing the passing of Susan Chase , mayor of Beaverton, Alabama  has passed away at 10:15 this morning," the City of Beaverton announced on social media. "We want to thank everybody for their prayers and support in our time of need. We know there's a God in heaven and she is resting in peace right now. Thank you."

Mayor Chase was the President of the West Alabama mayors Association.

Chase was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer earlier this year.

The City of Beaverton is located in Lamar County. It has a population of 187.
